Rules for 2009 Exhibition for US artists

The Austin Lima Sister Cities Committee
presents it third annual art exhibition of work by artists from North America and Peru.
This exhibition is open to all artists in any media and is devoted to fostering a cultural exchange between Peru
and the United States, and especially between Lima
and Austin. The theme of the exhibition
is Art Across the Americas.

Awards – There will be two awards,
Jurors’ Choice (chosen by the jury) and Peoples’ Choice (chosen by the audience at the opening reception).
Eligibility: The competition is open to artists working in North America
or Peru, working in all media. All forms of painting, drawing,
sculpture, photography, graphics, digital and installation art are eligible. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to
apply. Wall mounted works and sculptural work must fit through a standard height, 36"wide entry door.
Submissions: Photos of work can be sent by e-mail, CDs or photographs. High resolution, good
quality photographs by CD or e-mail are preferred. Enclose a Self Addressed Stamped
Envelope (SASE) if you want your CD or photos returned.
Fees:
Application fee: $10. Non-refundable.
Hanging fee if accepted: $25 (to help cover costs, anything left over goes to the project ALSC is supporting). Non-refundable.
Accepted artists will receive a color catalog of artists’ work, a certificate
and copies of publicity.
Commission: There will be a 50% commission on any sales made during the exhibition or off the web site. This will go to support the Center for Adolescent Mothers in Lima, Peru.
Calendar Deadlines
June
15th
Submit applications with photos of work
by e-mail or mail, $10 application fee, entry form, and one page resume, must be post marked by June 15th. Work submitted after this date will not be considered.
July
- The jury will meet during the month of July to determine accepted entries.
August
- Notifications sent to artists by e-mail or by mail (if SASE is enclosed with entry).
September
- Committee will hang the work the week before the opening reception. Work must be delivered by due date.
October
– the month of the exhibition at the International Center of Austin
November
- Return of work to artists
Rules
The art work will be judged from photos,
so they must be good representations of the work. The photos of accepted work will be used for publicity.
Art must have a title.
Art must have been produced within last
two years.
Art must be for sale (this is also a fund-raiser!).
Art must be ready to hang, with sturdy
hangers on the back, and look professional.
Artist must submit one page with a resume
and artist statement (one page only, if longer only first page will be presented)
Artists may submit one to three artworks
that must be available for sale at the exhibition.
Accepted work can be hand delivered or
mailed, mailed work must have return postage enclosed with entry. The jury committee of Austin Lima Sister Cities Committee
reserves the right to reject work that differs from submitted photographs.
